Vehicle Recalls Issued by the NHTSA from November 18 to November 28
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has issued several vehicle recalls in the past week. Here are some of the most notable recalls:
Honda Recall: Front Seat Belt Missing Rivet
Honda is recalling 303,770 of its 2023-2024 Accord sedans and HR-V SUVs because the front seat belt may be missing a rivet that connects the quick connector and wire plate. This defect could cause the seat belt to fail to restrain occupants in a crash.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2023-2024 Honda Accord
- 2023-2024 Honda HR-V
Remedy:
Honda dealers will inspect and replace the missing rivet at no cost to the customer. Owners will be notified by mail beginning January 8, 2024. Owners can also contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. The recall numbers are MG7 and NG5.
Stellantis Recall: Potential Fire Risk
Stellantis, which owns Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep, is recalling 32,125 of its 2021-2024 hybrid Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs because of a potential fire risk. An internal investigation by Stellantis found that eight Jeep Wrangler SUVs have caught fire while parked and turned off.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2021-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe SUVs
Remedy:
Stellantis will perform a software update on affected vehicles. If the software update detects an error code consistent with the fire risk, the battery pack will be replaced. Stellantis will notify affected owners.
Volvo Recall: Passenger Side Bench
Volvo is recalling 638 of its 2018-2024 VN, VNR, and VHD trucks because the passenger side bench may not be properly attached to the floor. This defect could cause the bench to shift in a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2018-2024 Volvo VHD
- 2018-2024 Volvo VN
- 2018-2024 Volvo VNR
Remedy:
Volvo dealers will repair the weld nut and add two nuts and a washer at no cost to the customer. Owners will be notified by mail beginning December 15. Owners can also contact Volvo customer service at 1-800-528-6586. The recall number is RVXX2312.
Toyota Recall: Modification Label Error
Toyota is recalling 534 of its 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra trucks because the modification label is incorrect. The incorrect label states that the truck has a higher load-carrying capacity than it actually does. Overloading the truck could increase the risk of a crash.
Affected Vehicles:
- 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra
Remedy:
SET, a company that modifies Toyota trucks, will send out new labels at no cost to the customer. Owners will be notified by mail beginning January 5, 2024. Owners can also contact SET customer service at 1-866-405-4226. The recall number is SET23B.
